Our rental fleet contains Class A, B, B+, C, and Travel Trailers for rent. We have a variety of motor homes (also referred to as caravans) available for rent throughout most of the year.
We are located at Paddys Pond beside the Trans Canada Highway in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, just a 15 minute drive from St. John’s International Airport or downtown St. John’s. Complimentary transportation is provided for our customers to and from Islander RV Sales & Rentals within the St. John's, Mt.Pearl or Paradise area.
Upon arrival at our rental station, our friendly staff will ensure that you have a full orientation in the use of the motor home. Maps and directions will be supplied to get you safely on your way.
Office hours
Office hours are generally 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday. The office is closed on Sundays and holidays (May 219 May 21, July 2, Sept 1, Sept. 3, Oct. 6, 8, 2012). No departures or returns are scheduled on these days.
Booking rental
Rental rates include insurance coverage and 150 kilometers per day. Rates are based on a nightly rate (minimum 7 night rentals). A preparation fee of $90 and 13% HST tax are not included in the daily rates.
We will make every effort to provide the customer with the model requested. If for any reason the vehicle is not available, Islander RV Sales & Rentals reserves the right to substitute a vehicle of similar or greater value. If a lower rated vehicle is to be offered, Islander RV Sales & Rentals is limited to refunding the cost difference between the two units.
Cancellation policy
Booked and cancelled within 3 days no charge
Over 30 days prior to departure $ 100
30 – 15 days prior to departure $ 250
14 – 8 days prior to departure $ 500
7 – Departure day/ no show 100% of the rental charges
Restrictions regarding unit
Sorry, no animals are allowed except for one unit which is reserved for clients who would like to travel with their pets.
Smoking is not permitted inside units; damage deposit may be forfeited if odour of tobacco smoke is detected inside unit.
Insurance Coverage
Islander RV Sales & Rentals provides $2 million public liability on all its vehicles as well as collision coverage. There is a $750 deductible for collision or any third party damages. This insurance will not apply if an unauthorized driver is involved in an accident, if the driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if damage caused to the vehicle is the result of driver negligence which includes roof damage and damage to the undercarriage including tires.
Driver requirements
A valid driver’s licence is all that is needed to drive one of our rental units. Minimum age for rental or driver of rental is 25. Only drivers listed on the contract are eligible to drive. A photocopy of the drivers’ licenses of all drivers listed on the contract will be taken at check in.
Convenience kits
A primary convenience kit is available at a cost of $80 plus 13% HST. Personal add on kits are available at a cost of $40 per person plus 13% HST.
Pick-up and return of rental unit
Pick-up time is from 2 pm. - 4 pm., Monday to Friday and 1 pm to 3 pm on Sat. There is no pick-up or drop-off on Sundays or scheduled holidays. (May 19, 21, July 1, July 2, Sept. 1, Sept. 3, Oct. 6, 8, 2012) A vehicle familiarization tour (about 30 minutes to one hour) will be given to each customer before departure to acquaint them with specifics related to the proper operation of the recreational vehicle.
Drop-off is between 8 am. to 11 a.m. Monday to Friday and 9 am to 11 am on Saturday. (Drop off means that the rental unit is on the lot, all personal contents have been removed, and the RV is available for cleaning.) A fee of $75 per hour is applied for late drop-off.
There will be no refunds for late pickups or early returns
Islander RV Sales & Rentals provides complimentary pick-up and drop off to and from St. John’s International Airport as well as the downtown area.
Security Deposit
A $750 security deposit will be taken by credit card before departure and will be processed. This deposit will be refunded at drop-off time if conditions of rental have been met.
Loss or partial loss of security deposit may be incurred due to the following:
* $75 per hour for late drop-off.
* up to $250 if the interior has not been cleaned (excluding normal wear)
* costs related to missing or damaged contents of unit
* $50 per tank for failure to dump holding tanks
* $25 for failure to fill each of gas or propane tanks plus cost of fill up
* up to $750 for insurance deductible should an accident occur
* any outstanding traffic tickets incurred during RV rental. (Non-reporting
of parking/traffic violations breaches the contract and may result in an
administrative charge in addition to fines).
* $0.29 per kilometre above number of kilometers on rental contract
* all charges related to damage caused by negligence
13% HST tax is added to all charges
Maintenance and Breakdown Responsibility
The customer is responsible for checking engine oil at each refuelling, as well as reporting any mechanical failures. Mechanical repairs that are not due to driver negligence will be covered by Islander RV Sales & Rentals. Any repair up to $50 can be paid by the renter and will be reimbursed at drop off upon presentation of receipt. Repairs over $50 must have prior authorization. Islander RV Sales & Rentals will not be responsible for any incidental or consequential costs.
In the event the vehicle breaks down, the responsibility of Islander RV Sales & Rentals is limited to refund of daily rate or portion thereof. Islander RV Sales and Rentals limits itself to compensation re repairs and repair time for malfunctioning refrigerator, air conditioner, furnace water heater, oven and gas cook top. Television, radio, tape or CD player, microwave, generator and/or cruise control are not considered breakdowns and no refunds are available for repair time to these items.
